By Hattem Mattar Meatball Spaghetti

Preparing dinner for the family with your kids around can be hectic, so Hattem Mattar from the Mattar Farm came up with some fun ways to get the kids involved whilst making something truly delicious using only the best Australian beef mince

Ingredients

  • 500 g Spaghetti
  • 500 g Australian Beef Mince
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 kg Tomato Passata Sauce
  • Oregano
  • Bread Crumbs
  • 1 Cup of Milk
  • Fresh Basil
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tin of Tomatoes
  • Grated Cheese

Method

Preparing the meatballs

1. Add basil, salt, pepper, oregano, breadcrumbs (soaked in milk), olive oil, 1 egg into a bowl and mix together

2. Roll mixture into meatballs

 

Cooking the meatballs

1. Preheat medium pan and add olive oil

2. Add chopped onions and garlic and cook until browned

3. Add meatballs and brown all sides evenly

4. Add 1 cup of water

 

Cooking the sauce

1. Remove meatballs from the pan and continue browning on low heat in a separate pan

2. Add 1 tin chopped tomatoes and 750 grams of tomato passata sauce to the garlic and onions

3. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano and simmer for 15 minutes

 

Cooking the spaghetti

1. Boil water and add 2 tablespoons of salt

2. Add raw spaghetti, mix and submerge

3. Boil for 9 minutes

 

Complete the Dish

1. Combine sauce and meatballs together

2. Serve on top of spaghetti

3. Garnish fresh basil and cheese
